Child Therapy Services
I work with children aged 8 and up. Parenting is difficult; any added stressor can make it seem impossible. From behavioral issues to emotional problems to trauma, I would be honored to have the opportunity to work with you and your child. Depending on your child's unique situation, I may work closely with your child's school, doctors, or psychiatrist to give your child what they need. I do not provide evaluations for disorders nor recommendations for medication.
As a parent, making sure your child is given adequate care without being in the therapy room can be a challenge. I am happy to answer any questions and concerns throughout the therapy process and look forward to your feedback on the effectiveness my counseling has on your child. To facilitate change in your family's life, I have a limited confidentiality policy for children. This means I will only share what your child says during sessions with you if I have their permission or if your child is in danger.

Typical First Session
For the first session, both child and parent will be in the therapy room in the beginning. This helps me best understand your child's history and your concerns. Once we have reviewed background information and the presenting problem, I will spend the rest of the session with your child one-on-one. The younger your child is and the earlier the stage of therapy, the more our sessions will be centered on developing the therapeutic relationship. A wonderful gift from children is that they will not "participate" in therapy until I have earned their trust.
Throughout treatment, your child may engage in various activities like painting, baking, and sports.
