Cassidy Robinson, PLMFT

PLMFT is an acronym for Provisionally Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. Cassidy has finished her education to be a Marriage and Family Therapist, but she has not finished the required amount of clinical hours (3,000!) to qualify for her Missouri license to be a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT).

Before she is licensed, Cassidy must receive weekly supervision from an LMFT. Cassidy's supervisor is West Loveland, PhD, LPC, LMFT. Click here to learn more about Dr. Loveland. His license number is 2017030441.

Cassidy is dedicated to helping individuals, couples, and families heal from emotional pain and create meaningful, healthy relationships. As a marriage and family therapist, she offers counseling services using a specialized approach that is tailored to each client's unique needs. Her goal is to create a safe and supportive space where clients can explore their emotions, thoughts, and experiences and develop the skills and insights needed to move forward in life.

My Background

My Childhood

I grew up as the middle child in a ministry family. My parents planted a church in southeast Kansas after surviving a tornado in 2003. My dad served as the lead pastor of this church until 2019. I come from a long line of ministers and church leaders. I believe this, as well as my personal experience, equips me to understand the unique challenges ministers and their families face today.

My Education

I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Christian Ministry from Ozark Christian College in 2019. Aside from my education, I gained lifelong friends I am grateful to have today. I was one of two class members chosen by faculty to speak at our commencement ceremony. I began my online masters degree at Amridge University in May 2021 and recently graduated, fulfilling the education requirements to become a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. My degree is a Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy. In July 2023, I attended the EFT Externship in Northwest Arkansas, which means I completed the first step of certification for Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT). EFT is the leading evidence-based therapy choice for couples. During both my undergraduate and graduate educations, I worked part-time or full-time jobs. These experiences helped me learn coping mechanisms and skills I can teach you to help with the stresses you face in your life.

My Work in the Non-Profit World

During my last year of undergrad, I began working at a sexual health clinic in Joplin, connecting clients to local resources and serving as a Victim Response Team member for an anti-trafficking organization in our community. In these roles, I learned about various resources in our community, how trauma operates in the brain in real time, de-escalation skills, and the detrimental effects pornography and deviant sexual behavior has on relationships. If you are facing addiction, sexual issues, or trauma, I have the skills and experience to help you.

My Work in the Corporate World

As I began my graduate education, I transitioned to an administrative assistant role at an engineering firm in Joplin. This experience exposed me to the corporate world that many of you work in today. If you have job-related stress, have enmity with coworkers, or are feeling stuck in life, let me help you.

My Volunteer Work

As the daughter of a pastor, volunteer work has flown through my veins since birth. I "voluntold" my time in various areas each Sunday at our church plant, my family helped with tornado clean up sites, and we went on numerous trips to assist with projects for churches or missionaries. Today, I volunteer at Christ's Church of Oronogo in multiple capacities each week. I have attended there since 2016. I have served on a welcome team for families of the refugee population in our area and volunteered my counseling skills for these individuals. A few times a year, I serve breakfast at a local homeless shelter with my husband's company. I spend my Friday afternoons assessing and counseling shelter guests there as well. Giving back to my community is important to me, and I hope to continue using my knowledge and skills to invest in Joplin. If you know another way I can be involved, please contact me.

My Interests

Counselor Cass' Vegetable Garden Hobby
My husband and I dream of having a giant garden to grow vegetables, fruits, and flowers year round.
Lately, we are focused on growing onions, garlic, and tomatoes in our backyard to make our own version of bruschetta.
